Rated as ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standards’, Howrah Beach Child Care Centre provides high quality early education and care each day for up to 105 children aged six weeks to five years. The highly experienced centre Manager has a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) degree and leads a team of dedicated and passionate educators.
With kunanyi/Mt. Wellington, as a backdrop Howrah Beach Child Care Centre is located within walking distance to parklands, Howrah beach, and is adjacent to Howrah Primary and Southern Support Schools.
Howrah Beach Child Care Centre stands in a place that was originally part of the lands of the Moomairremener People, a band of the Oyster Bay Tribe, who cared for and raised their children here for thousands of years.
There are seven groupings at Howrah Beach Child Care Centre. Children’s ages in January are used as a guide when placing children into one of these groups below.
Infant-Toddler Programs
Clarence Room.
Up to 12 children aged 6 weeks to 14 months with 4 educators.
Beachside Room.
Up to 12 children aged 12 to 24 months with 4 educators (including a trainee).
Wentworth Room.
Up to 12 children aged 24 months with 4 educators (including a trainee).
Early Learning Programs
Derwent Room Green Early Learning Program.
Up to 15 children aged 2 to 3 years with 3 educators, including a degree qualified teacher 5 days a week.
Derwent Room Blue Early Learning Program.
Up to 15 children aged 2 with 3 educators.
Wellington Room 1 Early Learning Program.
Up to 16 children aged 3 to 3 ½ years with 3 educators including a degree qualified teacher.
Wellington Room 2 Early Learning Program.
Up to 25 children aged 3 ½ to 5 years with 3 educators including a degree qualified teacher.
Types of care available
- Full time: 5 days a week
- Part time: 1-4 days a week.
- Additional casual days are available to children who already attend any of our child care services.
Hours Of Operation
7:20am – 6:20pm – Monday to Friday
We are closed for the period between Christmas and New Year, there is no charge for this period.
We are also closed on Public Holidays and on the last working day before Christmas. No fee is charged for these days.
